A Beautiful Smile in Just a Few Visits
Our Wylie family and cosmetic dentistry office sees many patients with complaints about the look of their teeth. From staining to cracks, chips, gaps, and misalignments, some of the smiles we see suffer from more than one of these cosmetic problems. If you have several blemishes you’d like to fix, but don’t want to undergo multiple procedures and many months of dental work, consider porcelain veneers.
Porcelain veneers are wafer-thin sheaths of porcelain that fit over your teeth. Constructed of multiple layers, porcelain veneers can change size, shape, color, and even the position of a tooth. Veneers allow light to pass through, giving them a translucent glow just like your natural teeth. Porcelain veneers usually takes a few office visits for tooth preparation, veneer design, fit, and placement.
What to Expect with Porcelain Veneers
Your first porcelain veneer appointment with Dr. Stooksberry will be a consultation to determine if veneers are the right option for you. Together you will discuss the condition of your oral health, your concerns, and your smile goals. Dr. Stooksberry may show you before-and-after pictures and talk with you about the aspects of each smile that you admire. Because your porcelain veneers will be handcrafted for your smile, it’s important to determine the right size, shape, and color that will fit with your personality and lifestyle.
When you return for your initial visit, Dr. Stooksberry will take a set of impressions and design your porcelain veneers. These specifications will be sent off to our partner dental lab where your veneers will be handcrafted. He will then prepare your teeth by buffing a small amount of enamel, so that your new porcelain veneers will fit perfectly over your tooth structure. We’ll provide a set of temporary veneers for you to wear until your prosthetics arrive.
When you return to our office, Dr. Stooksberry will show you the way your new veneers look and feel over your teeth. If you’re happy with the style and color, the last step will be permanently bonding your porcelain veneers to your teeth. Not only will your new smile be bright and beautiful, it will be strong and provide confidence for years to come.
